Zhanpeng Lv; Wu Yang; Delun Huang
Journal of Chinese Society for Corrosion and protection, 2001, 21 (3): 129-136 .
    Abstract   PDF (207KB) ( 1297 )
The effects of magnetic field on open circuit state and cathodic polarization behavior of copper in sulfuric acid with ferric ion w ere studied by open circuit potential measurement, polarization curve measuremen t and potentiostatic polarization measurement.Magnetic field did not affect open circuit state for Cu/H2SO4+Fe3+ systems.Magnetic field enhanced the c athodic diffusion of Fe3+ on copper electrode, and cathodic limiting diff usion current density increased with magnetic field intensity.Magnetic field eff ect coefficients for the same magnetic field intensity increased with ferric ion concentration. The minimum magnetic field intensity needed to induce significan t effect on cathodic limiting diffusion current density decreased with increasin g ferric ion concentration. It was pointed out that different thermodynamic stabi lity of Cu and Fe in solution with ferric ion led to different rate controlling steps for cathodic reaction at open circuit potential, thus magnetic field had d ifferent effects.Fit results for the relation between the magnetic field effect coefficient and magnetic field intensity and concentration of ferric ion showed that, more than one correlating equations could be obtained for the same set of experimental data.Intensive research on mechanism is needed to clarify the exact dynamic expression.

Journal of Chinese Society for Corrosion and protection, 2001, 21 (3): 137-143 .
    Abstract   PDF (329KB) ( 1310 )
A sputtered nanocrystalline coating of IN738 alloy was obtained by means of magnetron sputtering. The isothermal oxidation behavior of the bulk alloy and nanocrystalline coating of IN738 in air was studied. The r esults indicated that a double external oxide scale was formed on the nanocrysta lline coating at 900℃ and 1000℃ without internal oxidation and nitridation.Th e scale consisted of an outer part of main Cr2O3 and an inner part of a cont inuous Al2O3 scale, which offered good adhesive and protectiveness. However, at 800℃ the inner continuous Al2O3 scale was not formed on the coating.Th e oxidation mechanism of the nanocrystalline coating was also discussed.

Journal of Chinese Society for Corrosion and protection, 2001, 21 (3): 144-149 .
    Abstract   PDF (150KB) ( 1322 )
Four kinds of Mannich bases were synthesized.Their inhibitive behavior on A3 carbon steel in hydrochloric acid medium was studied.B y means of statistical model and displacement model (Bockris equation),two sets of thermodynamic functions were determined. It was shown that the inhibitive proc ess was exothermic, mainly due to chemical adsorption.Negative values of ΔS revealed that the order of inhibitor molecule was enhanced during adsorption.Neg ative values of ΔG were in accordance with spontaneity of the reaction. The difference between two sets of thermodynamic functions was explained and discuss ed with relevant calculations.

Journal of Chinese Society for Corrosion and protection, 2001, 21 (3): 150-157 .
    Abstract   PDF (222KB) ( 1365 )
Cerium-rich conversion coatings were deposited on p orous film of anodized auminoum by cathodic electrolysis in a solution containin g 1 g/L CeCl3·7H2O and 10 ml/L H2O2.X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (X PS),scanning electron microscopy (SEM),X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy disper sion analyzer of X-ray (EDAX) have been used to study these cerium-containing co nversion coatings. The results revealed that the microstructure of the cerium con version coatings was closely related to the porous structure of anodized film an d changed gradually with electrolysis time and cathodic current density. The coat ing being of an amorphous nature, predominately consisted of 3-valent-state ceriu m compound, and was up to about 140nm after one-hour cathodic electrolysis.

Journal of Chinese Society for Corrosion and protection, 2001, 21 (3): 158-166 .
    Abstract   PDF (278KB) ( 1302 )
The present paper, for three kinds of typical metals, Ni, Cu, Cr, and their oxide films NiO, CuO, Cr2O3, firstly analyzes the coking characteris tics in thermal cracking reaction of hydrocarbons and the possibilities of reduc tion , then they were tested separately with a quick coking device at 800℃, com bing with the analysis of morphology, elemental composition and valence on the s urface by scan electron microscope (SEM), electron dispersion X-ray analysis (ED AX) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscope (XPS), it was uncovered that the three kinds of metals and their oxide films have the different coking behaviors and co king mechanisms.

CORROSION BEHAVIOR OF 304,254 SMO AND Hastelloy C-276 IN HAc SOLUTION CONTAINING Br- ION
    Ziyong Zhu; Wei Ke
Journal of Chinese Society for Corrosion and protection, 2001, 21 (3): 167-171 .
    Abstract   PDF (126KB) ( 1535 )
Uniform corrosion and pitting corrosion behavior of stainless steel and high-nickel alloys in acetic acid solution containing Br- io n have been investigated. Immersion test method was used to measure general corr osion rate and potentiodynamic cyclic polarization was used to study pitting cor rosion behavior. The tested results found that the material of 304 experienced s erious general corrosion, the next was 254 SMO and the uniform corrosion rate of Hastelloy C-276 was the least. The addition of Br- ion into the solution fast ened the uniform corrosion rate of these materials. In addition, Hastelloy C-276 had a good performance of resisting pitting, the next was 254 SMO and 304 exper ienced serious pitting attack. Micrographs of pits produced after anodical polar ization were observed by SEM. The elements of the surface passivity film were in spected by XPS, whose results indicated that the elements of Cr and Mo played an important role in resisting corrosion. EPMA results indicated that Si, S and O elements existed in the pits, which means that sulfide inclusions were the sites initiating pitting.

    Abstract   PDF (144KB) ( 1458 )
Corrosion inhibition of BTAH and its derivative 4CB TAH on Cu in 0.5 mol/L H\-2SO\-4 solution was studied by SERS technique. The inhi bition mechanism for these inhibitors was found to be nearly the same which form ed a protective film through the triazole ring.As the potential turned negative, the molecules of BTAH or 4CBTAH gradually adsorbs on the copper surface.

    Abstract   PDF (185KB) ( 1382 )
Components, appearance and structure of high voltag e anodization film, which anodized in mixed electrolyte of H3PO4 and Na2WO 4,were analyzed by XPS,SEM and XRD methods.XPS results showed that the main co mponents of the film were O,Al,P and W.SEM test indicated that the microstructur e of the film was like a web.The porosity was 10 per μm2,pore size was 015 ~0.20 μm.The film connected with the substrate in a jagged interlocking patter n and could be divided into two layers, the porous layer above and the compact la yer below. Many cracks were observed in both layers under higher magnification SE M study.XRD analysis found that it was a noncrystal structure.Aluminum oxides, mixed up with some phosphates and tungstates, were the main phases in the film.
