THERMODYNAMICS OF THE INHIBITING PROCESS OF MANNICH BASES ON A3 CARBON STEEL IN HYDROCHLORIC ACID |

Abstract Four kinds of Mannich bases were synthesized.Their inhibitive behavior on A3 carbon steel in hydrochloric acid medium was studied.B y means of statistical model and displacement model (Bockris equation),two sets of thermodynamic functions were determined.It was shown that the inhibitive proc ess was exothermic,mainly due to chemical adsorption.Negative values of ΔS revealed that the order of inhibitor molecule was enhanced during adsorption.Neg ative values of ΔG were in accordance with spontaneity of the reaction.The difference between two sets of thermodynamic functions was explained and discuss ed with relevant calculations.
