Study on Erosion-Corrosion of Titanium and 00Cr25Ni22Mo2 Stainless Steel

Abstract  Erosion-corrosion of Ti and 00Cr25Ni22Mo2 stainless steel in 1mol/L H2SO4 solution was studied with the aid of a self-designed rotating apparatus. The experimental results showed that the erosion-corrosion rate of Ti and the stainless steel increased with increasing rotating speed and increasing temperature, and it approached the maximum at high rotating speed(>4.18m/s) and at high temperature(83℃、92℃).In the present experimental condition, the electrochemical factor played a more important role than the hydrodynamic factor in erosion-corrosion. The Nyquist plots for Ti and 00Cr25Ni22Mo2 stainless steel in 1mol/L H2SO4 solution presented single capacitive loops. Increase in rotating speed reduced the value of polarization resistance of both the materials, but did not change their characteristics of EIS,showing that erosion effect did not change their corrosion mechanism.
