XIE Gang; SONG Ning(Kunming Institute of Technology)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (17): 199-203.
    Abstract   PDF (261KB) ( 486 )
In equilibrium with NaF-AlF3 melts, the Na activities in Al was determined by EMF with β-Al2O3 solid electrolyte. The electrochemical cell can be represented by Na(Al)|Na+β-Al2O3|(α+β)-Al2O3The Na activitiesobtained were used to calculate the activities of NaF and AlF3, in the NaF-AlF3 system from different temperature and mole ratio of the melts. The activity of NaF may increase and of AlF3 decrease with the increase of NaF/AlF3 mole ratio in the melt or the increase of temperature.

WAN Jinglong(Anhui Institute of Technology; Hefei); BI Qinghua(Shanghai University of Science and Technology)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (17): 204-207.
    Abstract   PDF (217KB) ( 575 )
The Gd-CoAl vertical section of Gd-Co-Al phase diagram was determined by DTA and identified by metallographic and X-ray diffraction techniques. Two eutectic temperatures, 707 and 1040 ℃ , and two intermetallic compounds, GdCoAl and Gd(CoAl)1.5,are found. This section has 2 monophase and 9 diphase regions, also, possibly, uncertain minor triphase one.

    Abstract   PDF (319KB) ( 712 )
Based on the principle of magnetohydrodynamics the forced state on the liquid metal solidification rotating at high speed in a stationary magnetic field was theoretically analysed. Results revealed that under Joint action of electromagnetic, centrifugal and gravitic force fields, both the radial compressive force and the tangential component force acting on rotating liquid metal are varying periodically. An electromagnetic stirring effect taken by the later seems to be the basic cause of the refinement of solidification structure from liquid in electromagnetic centrifugal process.

    Abstract   PDF (375KB) ( 585 )
Straining electrode technique has been utilized to study the effects of strain amplitude, strain rate and applied potential on electrochemical corrosion process of defoming metals. The chosen systems were Fe/3.5% NaCl and A537/3.5% NaCl+1%NaNO2 aqueous solutions. The experimental results showed that, the accelerating effect of plastic straining on the anodic dissolution was greater than that on the cathodic reaction. and this accelerating effect was mainly found near the free corrosion potential. In the strongly anodic and cathodic polarized region, the deforming effect on electrode reactions was not important because of the great reacting driving force. The strain current depended on the strain amplitude for active system and on the strain rate for the passive system, respectively. The change of deforming current was determined by the kinetic process of repassiviting of active area on the electrode surface.

    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (17): 218-222.
    Abstract   PDF (310KB) ( 614 )
By use of a differential scanning calorimeter, the crystallization kinetics of an amorphous Fe80B20 alloy was studied. The kinetic parameters of crystallization, such as the transformed fraction x(t),the local activation energy Ec(x), and the average Avrami exponent n, were analyzed. The crystal growth in this alloy is not only interface-controlled but also diffusion-controlled.

    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (17): 223-228.
    Abstract   PDF (454KB) ( 542 )
An Ti-12Co-SAl alloy sheet with an ultra fine α-Ti/Ti2Co microstructure was prepared by proper smelting and thermomechanical treatment. An excellent superplastic elongation more than 2000% was obtained at high strain rate of3 ×10-2 s-1 and under relatively low temperature of 700℃. Microstructural study indicates that the supepolastic defomration promotes the grain growth and shape change of the Ti2Co intermetallic particles. No cavity was found in the specimen after even superplastically deformed to 1550%. The combination of strain hardening, resulted from the coarsening of α-Ti grains and Ti2Co particles, together with the strain rate hardening is considered to be the main reason why the alloy exhibits excellent superplasticity.

    Abstract   PDF (304KB) ( 596 )
Super hard refractory intermetallic WC-Co (Co= 0, 4,15 wt-%) films were prepared by arc discharge ion-plating technique. As the Co content increasing, the plasma state in vacuum chamber tends to stable, the deposition rate increases, and the structure will be T-zone in Thornton diagram and changes gradually from columnar grains into dense film.

JIANG Shengrui; PENG Dongliang; ZHAO Xueying; XIE Liang; LI Qiang(Lanzhou University)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (17): 233-237.
    Abstract   PDF (283KB) ( 717 )
Deposition technique of (Ti,Al)N films sputtered in the Ar+N2 atmosphere using reactive DC magnetron method was studied. The hardness, wear resistance and oxidation resistance of (Ti,Al)N films are superior to those of TiN films. The AES results show that the superior antioxidation characteristic of (Ti,Al) N films at high temperatures results from the formation of protective Al2O3 layers as a result of selective oxidation of Al.

SrCeO_3 BASED HIGH TEMPERATURE PROTON CONDUCTOR AND HYDROGEN PROBE
ZHENG Minhui; CHEN Xiang (University of Science and Technology Beijing)
    Acta Metall Sin, 1994, 30 (17): 238-242.
    Abstract   PDF (318KB) ( 626 )
Hydrogen probes were constructed with highly dense tubes of SrCe0.95Yb0.05O3-α based proton conductor made by the authors, and with the mixture of Ca/CaH2. By insertion of the probe into liquid Al sample, the hydrogen concentration cell: Mo, Ca/CaH2|H+conductor[H]molten Al, Mo, is available to determine its hydrogen content. EMF of the probe was stable for 1.8 ks and also responded rapidly and accurately to the dehydrogenation by hexachloroethane. XRD and TG analysis of the recovered proton conductor showed that no other phase but perovskite was identified and the excess of Sr improves the stabiltiy of the proton conductor under strong reducing atmosphere.
