Abstract  In this paper, polyaniline (PANI) doped with PSSA was synthesized by emulsion polymerization method. The structure and doped state of PANI were characterized by IR spectra and XPS. The corrosion inhibition property of PANI for carbon steel in acidic NaCl solution was demonstrated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The results revealed that PANI doped with PSSA had a high conductivity and good solubility in water; In the process of doped polyaniline, PSSA existed in two states, namely the doped state and the free state; PSSA not only improved the conductivity of PANI, but also improved the water solubility of PANI. The inhibition efficiency of PANI doped with PSSA for carbon steel in acidic NaCl solution was more than 80%.
