Abstract Aniline-formaldehyde polymer was synthesized by chemical oxidation method. The structure and morphology of the polymer were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectoscopy (FTIR) and scanning electrom microscopy (SEM), respectively. The corrosion inhibition of the polymer on Q235 steel in 1 mol/L HCl was studied by mass loss, polarization curves and electrochemical impendence spectroscopy (EIS). The results indicated that the polymer is an anodic inhibitor, which can be adsorbed on the Q235 mild steel surface, leading to the formation of a protective film to decrease the corrosion rate.
