Abstract The linear Polarization technique was adopted to determine the corrosion resistance of several low-alloy steels in sea water.The influences of chemi- cal composition,technological factors and heat treatment conditions of steels on corrosion resistance were studied.The laboratory measured results agreed fairly well with the results of exposure tests in sea.It was shown that the localized corrosion index δ may be used to evaluate the resistance to localized corrosion of low-alloy steels in sea water.
