Abstract  Researches into the corrosion fatigue in last decade have shown that the following three steps should be involved in the mechanico-chemical interaction: 1)medium transportation,2)surfaee adsorption and reaction, 3)hydrogen diffusion in the solid inducing the embrittelment. Moreover, the slowest step is the rate governing process in the mechanico-chemical interaction. The process of the mechanico-chemieal interaction in corrosion fatigue is very complicated and can be influenced by many factors. Therefore, the models on the mechanico-chemical interaction developed up to now are generally restricted to bear the relationship with one or two steps. In the present paper, a review is made on the mechanico-chemieal models in corrosion fatigue developed in recent years from the view point of interaction process. The physical image and the mathematical descriptions of various models are analyzed, and spheres and limitations of application of these models on the mechanico-chemical interaetiort are pointed out. Finally, the research trends on the mechanico-chemical model in corrosion fatigue are outlined.
